Are you passionate about creating safer workplaces and making a real difference on site?

We’re looking for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor who is practical, approachable and confident working alongside operational teams. This is a hands-on role where you’ll have the opportunity to influence safety culture, support our people, identify risks and help drive continuous improvement across our business.

Working closely with our Health & Safety Manager and operational teams, you’ll be a key point of contact for health and safety matters across our regional operations.

This is a permanent part-time opportunity with potential to grow into a full-time role. Days and hours are flexible and can be discussed with the right candidate.

Regional Coverage: Waikato, South Waikato & Bay of Plenty  

Key responsibilities

  • Provide practical H&S advice and support to managers, supervisors and employees 
  • Monitor workplace hazards and help teams identify and control risks 
  • Mentor and support our H&S Representatives and team leaders 
  • Manage and support the use of our H&S operating systems and databases 
  • Educate team leaders on H&S systems and reporting requirements 
  • Work with operational teams to ensure compliance with company procedures and the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 
  • Regular regional travel is required, including the ability to stay away from home when necessary

About you

  • You’ll be someone who can build relationships, challenge unsafe practices and make health and safety practical for the people doing the work.
  • You'll ideally have:
  • A tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a relevant discipline 
  • 3+ years’ experience in a health and safety role 
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation and WorkSafe requirements 
  • Understanding of ACC processes, workplace injury and rehabilitation 
  • Experience with H&S systems, reporting and documentation 
  • Strong Microsoft Office and computer skills 
  • A full Class 1 driver's licence 
  • The ability to work comfortably in environments involving heights and confined spaces 
  • A practical, proactive approach to problem-solving 
  • The ability to work independently while being a strong team contributor

It would be great if you also have;

  • Experience in construction, scaffolding, heavy maintenance, industrial services or another high-risk environment would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 would also be beneficial
